The world’s first Smurf Village is taking Abu Dhabi in a storm!

Just as the fourth edition of the popular family carnival “Summer in Abu Dhabi” opened last weekend, it became clear immediately: This will be the record breaking event of the summer season!

From toddlers and kids to teenagers and parents – everyone loves the variety of activities at this Summer in Abu Dhabi.

One definite favorite of the crowd is the Smurf Village, a world premiere and unique RedFilo creation. With a playground, fishing river, artist corner, Smurfette’s beauty house, a reel mushroom and a cycling path all around the village no Smurf dreams are left unfulfilled.

But what would a Smurf Village be without the Smurfs? Papa Smurf, Hefty, Smurfette and many others are around to meet their fans!

Visitors include locals and expatriates from every Emirate, as well as GCC families and holiday makers. With its holistic concept of accommodating kids from 2 to 18 and above Summer in Abu Dhabi 2011 has once again become the must-see for all families.

And it definitely is – on the opening day, June 30th, a total of 5200 visitors stormed hall 11 of ADNEC!

A dedicated team of event architects worked on the conceptualization of this mega event since last November. RedFilo – appointed as official event organizer for the third time in a row – won ADTA’s attention with a concept that combined exciting games, entertaining live acts, engaging cartoon characters and an enticing combination for young, younger and youngest!

Summer in Abu Dhabi 2010

Summer in Abu Dhabi 2010 – the third edition of the six-week family festival – was significantly expanded by ADTA to encompass an awesome entertainment line-up taking in eight venues across the UAE capital and Al Ain – the first time the festival reached out to the emirate’s Eastern Region heritage heartland.

Building on the success of the first two editions, Summer in Abu Dhabi 2010 broke new-ground as it looked to attract more GCC visitors to the emirate and deliver greater benefits to its tourism sector.

Like its previous years, the magnitude of the summer festival was significant. Summer in Abu Dhabi 2010 lasted for 6 weeks (23rd June to 4th August). It involved a total of 110 international performers, 85 minders and 24 event management staff. Summer in Abu Dhabi 2010 proved to be as popular as its predecessors, attracting a total of 160,000 guests.

In SIAD, there were indigenous cultural performances, multi-dimensional entertainment experiences, ‘live’ cooking classes, competitions and workshops. And on top of the summer activities, we decided to increase the number of main shows. Summer in Abu Dhabi 2010 saw not one but three main shows! The first was Lord of the Dance, a musical based on an Irish folklore. The second was Fantasy on Ice, a whimsical production that skillfully combined figure skating and illusions. The third was the Big Apple Circus which is international renowned circus based in New York.
