Cartoonival – for the first time in the Middle East!

With a gigantic and fun filled 2011 edition of Summer in Abu Dhabi, RedFilo brought another mega production into town – Cartoonival, produced by Cartoon Network!

Cartoonival is the first-ever live action, fully scripted, full-scale theatrical production by Cartoon Network. Starring your favorite cartoon characters Dexter & Dee Dee, the Powerpuff Girls & Mojo Jojo, Bloo from Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends and many others this cartoon carnival was the city’s must-see this summer!

This is their story …

Cartoonival is the world’s best cartoon carnival and can only operate with its Cartoonival key. The storyteller, Barany B. Brightly is the keeper of the key and ensures that it is always in its rightful place. If only he knew that Mojo Jojo is making an evil plan to steal the key and rule the carnival! With the help of the kids, the Cartoonival characters are able to hide the key from Mojo Jojo for a while … but Mojo Jojo tricks Bloo into helping him to get his hands on the key, traps the cartoon crew and leaves Cartoonival stranded. Mojo Jojo is very close to his victory, when Bloo understands Mojo Jojo’s intention, frees his friends and fights the key back! Cartoonival is saved!

A kids musical, the storyline is supported by numerous songs and interactive games, capturing the young audience to join in the fun! Cartoonival was showing 12 times in Abu Dhabi Hall during Summer in Abu Dhabi 2011 and was a great addition to a wonderful family festival.

Highlights of IDEX 2011 Opening ceremony

Newzglobe called it ‘a spectacular air and land demonstration’, The National newspaper described it as a ‘dramatic hostage-rescue operation’ while Army Recognition praised it ‘a stunning opening ceremony’.

We’ve put together a number of photos to showcase the highlights of the IDEX 2011 opening ceremony that took place at ADNEC Abu Dhabi on February 20th, 2011.

In fact, the show was so impressive that the 30-minute action-packed performance was extended for public viewing over the entire IDEX exhibition period of 5 days!

The UAE military band kicked off the opening ceremony of the 10th edition of IDEX in honor of the UAE Armed Forces.

The UAE SOC together with the air force simulated a hostage-rescue operation at sea, utilizing a Chinook, Fennecs and RHIBS for the display.

Following the captivating ship storm, the SOC of the UAE Armed Forces showcased a building storm scenario on the mobility track.

Over 50 vehicles of the UAE Armed Forces punched out in a military battle formation, rolling across the 200 m custom-designed mobility track, overcoming obstacles, water pools and ramps.

Continuous interaction between land and air force and explosion simulations added to the realistic scenario effect.

Skydiving counts among any army’s core disciplines, and was also part of IDEX 2011 opening ceremony. For the first time ever in the world, a RXW formation was shown to a public audience, with breathtaking base deployment as low as 300 ft!

Quads, FMX, motorcross and trial bikes followed the wingsuit performance, and had the audience WOW to their amazing jumps! A total of 23 riders performed tricks on the mobility track, making it the largest stunt bike group that ever displayed at the same time!

As an international event, four Edinburgh military tattoo recognized bands participated in the celebration, and performed for the Royal Family and VIP audience of 3000 viewers their unique cultural heritage.

The show ended with a grand finale, over 50 international flags, a specially composed musical piece played by all 4 international bands and a spectacular Mirage flypast.

See you 2013!
